Residential Green Building (RGB) Committee

The RGB Committee provides a forum for Collaboration and Outreach within the Residential Market.  With help from the USGBC, the committee also develops ideas for reaching out to home builders, architects, realtors, city departments and all parties involved in the design and construction of residential buildings and neighborhoods.  The goal of the Residential Green Building Committee is to drive market transformation by delivering a consistent message about green building practices and streamlining the process of making greener homes.

The Residential Green Building Committee meets the 4th Wednesday of every month from 5:30-7pm at

Join RGB for our next meeting on January 27th.
Our outgoing RGB chairs, Piper & Michael, will be sharing time as RGB advocates, a position only available for past RGB chairs.  Please share in welcoming them to their future endeavors for our group and thank them for a job well done.

Thus month RGB is electing new RGB Chairs. View the position description, and if you are interested in serving as an RGB chair, please e-mail Piper Kujack by Friday, January 20th, 2010 with a one page bio and expression of interest, and prepare to introduce yourself with a statement of interest (2 minutes maximum) at the January 27th meeting.

Areas of Focus

Regional Level
  • Collaborates with Residential Green Building Advocates in our Region.
  • Identifies and prioritizes the issues relevant to the transformation of the residential marketplace.
  • Provides support to their Advocate.
  • Develops a working understanding of the LEED for Homes Program.
  • Is knowledgeable about the other green building programs in their market place, such as the GreenPoint Rated program.
  • Reaches out to other key players in the green residential marketplace.
Chapter Level
  • Develops a good relationship with our local HBA and other green building programs.
  • Fields questions that come into our Chapter regarding the LEED for Homes Program.
  • Directs more complicated questions to residential green building leaders in our community.
  • Forwards complex regional or political issues to USGBC for resolution.
  • Identifies local green home building leaders.
  • Works with our Chapter to provide educational outreach.
  • Provides the liaison between the local provider and our Chapter.
  • Works with our Chapter to promote the LEED for Homes Program.
  • Cultivates other Residential Green Building Advocates in our Area.
Please note that a national customer service program is in place to handle LEED for Homes Inquiries. Advocates will gauge customer service demands and provide updates to USGBC so that the Council can ensure adequate customer support at all times.
